Wouter Hamel, whose first two albums, 'Hamel' and 'Nobody's Tune' captured hearts in his native Netherlands and spread like wildfire throughout Europe, Japan, and Korea, is back with his new record, 'Lohengrin', after a long and winding road full of surprises not all of them pleasant.
Wouter Hamel came to the attention of the Dutch music industry when he won the Dutch Jazz Vocal Competition in 2005. Soon after, he and his band were invited to play at the Netherlands' famous North Sea Jazz Festival, which led to a nomination for the Deloitte Jazz Award (2006), and appearances on several popular Dutch TV shows.
This music blend with ska, calypso, swing-pop, 70s folk, 80s jazz-pop and more in an indefinable orchestra of horns, guitars, electric piano, mettalophone, glockenspiel, autoharp and Carribean steel drums.
Wouter Hamel has charm, looks, and a voice like a young Sinatra. His clarity, perfect timing and beautiful own sound enable us to call his voice a gem. His performed at the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, make audience swing dancing with the music. Everyone who attended really enjoyed the music especially those who came with their partners. The music was really easy listening.
